Alison Mitchell takes a story we often hear in Sunday school and reveals the deeper layers beneath it. This isn’t just about a man and a fish—it’s about God’s mercy, His mission, and the shadows of Christ that show up even in the belly of a great fish.
The writing is clear and engaging, the theology is solid, and the heart behind it is so intentional. It’s just the right mix of depth and accessibility, perfect for read-aloud time or for kids who are beginning to explore Scripture more deeply.

The Jesus Moments series has been so fun to read through. These books share the wonders of our God through biblical accounts.
This series works to teach children that Jesus is the storyline of the entire Bible. The beauty of the Bible is Jesus. The apex of the Bible is Jesus.
Throughout the book, Mitchell emphasizes important, life changing words in bold. For example, as we see Jonah preaching to the Ninevites, the words "forgive" and "believe"are bolded. These words show an important concept of the Gospel for children to grasp and understand.
The illustrations are fun, engaging, and beautiful.
The author includes a "Why look for 'Jesus moments'?" to conclude the book. She shares the importance of finding Jesus in all of the Bible, Old Testament and New Testament.
These books are so wonderful for young readers to learn about our Savior.
